Operate Reset Plunger by hand until Rat chet reset s
to zero posi tion, i.e., un til resetting movement
stops . Then operate Step-up Plunger and, while
ho lding Step-up Plunger in, check to see that Reset
Pawl rests at base of ratchet -too th (point at which
straight and ang ular edges of too th meet) . If Reset
Pawl is not at base of tooth , adjust Spr ing-Stop
(P-3384) un til Rat chet moves into pos ition to
perm it Paw l properly to engage tooth , as des cribed.
Then check un it manually by operat ing Step-Up
Plu nger. After Reset Paw l drops into position de-
scribed above , Step -up Arm should over-ride ap-
proximate ly 1/64 in, before being stopped by
Step-Up Arm Stop ("ear" formed in Base Plate).
Bend Stop one way or another to red uce or increas e
over- ride to approximately 1/64 in. Reset Pawl
should then properly drop into base of tooth,
withou t binding, when Rese t Plunger is lightly
operated (without pus hing Plunger all the way in).
