MMR Support [MMR Members Only] / Re: Dragon Mod
« on: November 01, 2016, 09:47:36 PM »
Thanks Rick... Any chance of having that dragon all lit up and ready to plug into the flasher?  I would prefer something officially sanctioned and turnkey, particularly when electricity is involved as I would not want to risk overloading any circuits... It would also mean more revenue for PPS as this could be at a materially higher price point...

Obviously there are tons of mods available for MM... A couple of others that would capture my dollars would include:
There is a very cool MM troll mod with lit eyes that flash when struck...

And lastly there is a MM goblin mod that sits atop the Peasant ramp with eyes hooked to a flasher...
Thx

Interesting, thanks Lloyd... Any idea if PPS is considering producing a similar product?

Hi Lloyd
Please advise if installing the 2 headed dragon mod outlined below would:
1. void the warranty
2. potentially overload the circuity and cause problems... Would it only be anticipated to cause issues during extended gameplay... E.g. After several hours or more?

Ok thanks Lloyd... The screw thru dragon is part of the Damsel ramp... Was thinking that might be required... I am going to hire my distributor to do this and will provide this as input into the quote... My distributor for Stern NIBs would have done this under warranty on his dime.

MMR Support [MMR Members Only] / Ball stuck behind Castle

Hi Lloyd,
Appreciate your assistance on this matter.  I have heard nothing back from the Engineering dept @ CGC after you passed along my ticket 5 weeks ago.  The game is unplayable as the ball gets tightly wedged at least once per game, requiring glass removal.  I believe the frequency of sticking has increased since new as I now advance much deeper in the game.  So I have a few questions:
I have not lifted up the playfield at this point to attempt any maintenance.

Issue: ball gets wedged between the 2 walls at the raised metal bracket during a weak Joust shot.  Hard shots squeeze through.

Proposed Solution:
I believe the correct fix is to remove the metal bracket, bend it back at the base a few degrees, reinstall it, and finally bend the lower wall that wraps around it to fit snuggly back around it.  Bending the lower wall must be done in such a manner so as to not create a flat "resting spot" for the ball.  Bending the top/outer wall is not an option as it would negatively impact the smooth trajectory of fast Joust shots.

1. The metal bracket in the attached photo has 2 screws with nuts on the underside of the playfield.  Is it possible to reach both screws with a long handled screw driver without removing the Peasant ramp?  Access to one screw looks feasible but not sure about the other one...

2. If the second screw above is not reachable, how much of the playfield must be removed to access it?

3. Thoughts on this solution... Any better ideas?

I have cleaned behind the impacted area but not waxed it as the area is hard to reach and removing the wax would be difficult.  There appears to be nothing on either the playfield or walls...

With relative frequency I end up with 2 balls stuck in the catapult.  Last night I had a world beating 3 balls in the catapult with 4 in play... Amazingly one came out on its own, but the other two required game stoppage and glass removal as is always the case.

I acknowledge that this may be the poster child for "first world problem", but in any regard it is frustrating to have a great game and score go sideways due to this issue.  This tends to happen with relative frequency because one obvious strategy to employ during any of the multiball modes is to hit the Joust orbits so the balls get temporarily trapped in the pop bumpers, leaving fewer balls to manage.  Of course an errant joust orbit shot from the right flipper can easily land in the catapult... Far easier it seems than when actually aiming for it...

Software solution:  if the catapult fails once then apply full power Scotty on subsequent catapults until the balls are cleared.  Please Rick/Lloyd, discuss this with CGC.

Thx

MMR Support [MMR Members Only] / Fine playfield scratches
« on: November 25, 2015, 10:52:36 PM »
Lloyd
Had my MMRLE professionally installed.  One of the installers fixed a couple minor problems with the metal ramp protectors.  The game was boxed until delivered, and was not unboxed prior to delivery.  I did not inspect the playfield closely at time of delivery.  After finally getting a chance to play it a few days later a few playfield scratches caught my eye once I turned it off.  I removed the glass and upon closer inspection noticed fine scratches covering the majority of the playfield, except the orange area Near the bottom.  These scratches are very visible when viewed from certain angles, even with the glass installed.  I inspected the balls for a second time and did not notice any imperfections either visually or to the touch.  Total gameplay is less than an hour.  I have since applied two coats of polish from a local distributor that I have used with great success on my STLE and it has partially masked some of the scratches.  I can't believe this is normal.  My only other NIB to compare is STLE and that playfield is mint with virtually no scratches when viewed from any angle even with the glass removed.  Is there possibly a clearcoat issue?  I reported this a few days ago to my distributor.
Thx

MMR Support [MMR Members Only] / Drawbridge not fully closing
« on: November 20, 2015, 01:37:13 PM »
Hi Lloyd
The drawbridge opens fine but does not fully close.  There is a gap of about one inch... The playfield is level.  If you elevate the playfield then it closes in test mode.  Tried adjusting the switch to no avail.
Thx

They are on the line now. Game playfields are produced first, and then mated with the cabinets, 50+ black playfields for black games are done and now being mated with black cabinets this week, and will ship as soon as that happens.

Rick,
Please clarify... Is a black playfield any different from any other playfield, and if so in what ways and can you provide pictures?... Thought (as did others) it was only the trim... E.g. Legs, lockdown bar, etc. that was different... What about stainless, are they different too?

This has me greatly concerned...
Thx

« on: September 12, 2015, 01:27:53 PM »
Rick,
I encourage you to please speak with Stern and ask them to make any required adjustments necessary to ensure the left troll is not striking the wire form... They should be able to easily correct this issue rather than have customers bending anything which may adversely impact gameplay.

Thanks very much and your responsiveness on this forum is greatly appreciated, as we all patiently await arrival of this fantastic pin.

Rick,
STLE is among the fastest pins ever produced which results in mega air balls every game and yet my playfield has no dents or damage resulting from them... Why are air balls here (obviously caused by a lifted ramp protector defect) causing playfield damage?
Thx

Mine #77 is also having sling shot damage as well as led display not powering up

Ok... According to another post Jamierscherr received an MMRLE on or around August 4th, which is well after the slingshot damage issue was resolved...

Rick - please advise if the games being shipped have been corrected...
Thx

Appreciate the prompt follow up Rick... Look forward to the final verdict if any minor adjustment is required.
Thx

Rick, can you comment on this and whether CGC is aware that the VUK on the left side of the moat could possibly be installed too far to the left causing balls to hit the weldment? I'm wondering if this may be another issue where the pre drilled holes in the playfield may be off slightly (like in the case of the slingshots that were hitting the playfield on the early games). That left orbit shot should be going through smoothly and if there are a few MMR owners who are experiencing the same issue, I sure hope someone at CGC is aware of it and making the necessary changes. Dinged up balls from this issue could really do a lot of damage to the playfield over time I imagine. Not to mention leading to frustrating game play.

I echo this sentiment... Analysis should be performed right away.  Due to the relative infrequency I fear some may chalk this up to normal behaviour...
Thx

No I would expect them to replace the quarterpanel unfortunately you can not replace just part of the playfield that is damaged. "There is no way a company can do what you ask." My Stern Star trek LE had a defect on it not even as bad as this and that is actually what STERN did sent me out a populated playfield to swap out. "CAn we get back to reality" It's time for you to get back to reality because this is what pinball companys do when their is a defect in the playfields they sell. Stern makes extra playfields just in case of mistakes like this. The game is under warranty from manufacture defects and if this is not a manufacture defect I do not know what is. Also I have a hard time believing you even own a MMRLE. But if you do and your ok with the defect then good for you but I am not. Like I said tho I am sure PPS will do that right thing here.

I also own a Star Trek LE and Stern stepped up to the plate very recently and sent me (via courier) a ball trough assembly harness to address a problem I was experiencing free of charge including free shipping even though my machine was a bit past warranty - kudos to Stern!  I am hopeful and believe that PPS will provide a comparable level of service...

Thx
